RiverFlix Film Series
The Apalachicola Riverkeeper's mission is to provide stewardship and advocacy for the protection of the Apalachicola River and Bay, its tributaries and watersheds, in order to improve and maintain its environmental integrity, and to preserve the natural scenic, recreational and commercial fishing character of these waterways. We are also dedicated to protecting and saving our increasingly threatened planet.

We show environmental and adventure films to illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet, and the work other communities are doing to protect the environment.  Our goals, through the power of film, are to both inform people about the state of the world and inspire them to take action. The RiverFlix Film Series also raises resources and awareness for the Riverkeeper’s initiatives to protect the Apalachicola River and Bay.

Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival on Tour
For 2009, the Apalachicola Riverkeeper is hosting the Wild and Scenic Environemental Film Festival (WSEFF) on Tour. The WSEFF, which is presented by Patagonia, is the largest environmental film festival in the U.S. The event is organized and hosted by the South Yuba River Citizens League. For 26 years this grassroots environmental organization has been bringing their community together around the protection of the Yuba Watershed.

The festival tour brings together the best of the home festival’s films. With a growing public awareness for the environment, the festival aims to increase this groundswell through inspiring and educational films which hopefully will motivate people to go out and make a difference in their community and around the world. Whether it is the struggle for environmental justice, information on renewable energy or an educational tale about an endangered species, the films expose people to forward-thinking ideas and global awareness. The films not only highlight concerns but provide solutions, reaching people through beautiful imagery like the sweeping landscapes of the Tallgrass Prairie or the grandeur of the the rivers around the world.
